Wish they would run that ad all over television here too. I've not seen it once run on U.S. TV.

Interesting thing about this "test". This comes from http://www.roadbikerider.com/currentissue.htm#racing (scroll down to "Cycling Shorts")
There's a flap in England about an ingenious video called "Do the Test." It was produced for Transport for London as a way to raise awareness of cyclists on the road. Nice idea, but it's charged that the concept for the video was stolen. According to Carlton Reid at bikebiz.com, the idea was first filmed in 1999 by Prof. Daniel Simons of the University of Illinois and it's sold as an instructional DVD by Viscog Productions of the U.S. Well, whatever -- it's a short and fun "test." It seems to have nothing to do with cycling until the point about awareness is driven home. "Do the Test" has been on and off the internet because of the plagiarism accusation, but as this is written you can still view it at http://www.dothetest.co.uk
It's a very interesting awareness test. I actually saw the original only recently while at a seminar in San Diego at the end of January (the seminar I took with John Assaraf, one of the teachers in The Secret). They had paid for the training DVD, and it was much better. They use a man in a gorilla suit who walks through and beats his chest. I swear I didn't notice it even after 3 times repeating the video!
Ya wanna know why this happens?
It's due to the RAS, the Reticular Activation System, in your brain, which filters out things from our awareness or else we'd never get anything accomplished. Can you imagine if you were aware of everything going on around you at every moment? Talk about frazzled! It's actually an evolutionary function of the brain - if we could't focus, then as cavemen, we would have died out (as in, not focusing on our safety and being eaten).
You can use this to your advantage as well. In fact, this is a large reason for why the Law of Attraction works. When you use DAILY affirmations and visualizations to tell yourself things like "I am successful", "I am in the best shape of my life and I weigh x", "I am a genius and I use my wisdom daily", "I am in a happy and healthy relationship", then the RAS actually starts to filter out those things that prevent us from seeing what we want, and suddenly you start noticing things you didn't notice before. Things that actually are in line with what you are seeking. Things that you might consider "coincidence" but in actuality, they were always there before - you just never were aware of them, like the moonwalking bear!
And when you focus on what you don't want (like "I don't want to be in debt") then the RAS filters out the things that will help us get OUT of debt, because it's focusing on what you're telling it to focus on - debt (it's not smart enough to differentiate the NOT part). It only becomes aware of those things that maintain the status quo - one of its functions. That's one of the ways we stay stuck in old patterns.
The brain is pretty cool when you use it to your advantage!

I LOVE that you always share this kind of information with us. I recently started changing my way of thinking for a lot of reasons. Life is fragile and how long you're here is unsure. I don't want to lay on my death bed wishing I had been braver and smarter and HAPPIER!
Carpe diem, my new mantra. Thanks for more tips on how to incorporate some positive influences into our lives and for reminding us all that we're in control.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I absolutely can not wait to Move Mountains and discover The Secret with you! See you soon!
