Anyone know anythig about this program? http://www.crossfit.com/ (http://www.crossfit.com/) I see it based in Prescott AZ. thinking that Patrick can shed some light on it. A buddy sent me the link and told me I should research it some more.

I've never heard of these guys and I think they are smart to focus on large MSAs in their marketing efforts. Prescott is pretty small and people are frugal.

The images are interesting...I have a hard time integrating a Clean and Jerk into my fitness routine...maybe my aversion to weight room jocks.

Anyone done this program?

:) PS

I discovered Crossfit months ago and I've been trying to include as much of their WOD into my WO. Ain't easy.

If you scroll down the page you'll see a whole list of Crossfit affiliate gyms...seems like they're springing up around the country like a dose of The Pox......we have 2 withing a 10 mile radius of where I live right now.

I'd join and go along but the set up seems a bit cultish and chock full of military wannabee types......nothing wrong there, except most of the ex-military types I know (at least the ones who've seen real action) are more like Quakers than the gung-ho dudes you see on some of the Crossfit videos.

Good functional strength building though......been picking up (suplex lift) and carrying (farmer's walk) some seriously heavy stones in the garden without too much trouble.

Today's (5/9) has a kettlebell demo. Me 'n' Joy could show that dude how to do it!!

Steve,

There seem to be only a few affiliates in Jersey: Denville, Edison, Tabernacle, Point Pleasant, Camden, Williamstown and Cherry Hill. Not a lot considering there's a fitness center in every other strip mall...

...I have a hard time integrating a Clean and Jerk into my fitness routine...

None-the-less much more effective than turning one's self into an amateur circus act with balls and balance boards and the tiny little weights you need to lift when you're balancing on something with no stability. Also makes more sense than the overweight musclehead loading 400 lbs on the bench press to scream out one rep. Too bad more gyms aren't equipped to handle this type of lifting, but I guess I understand given the lack of availability of proper instruction for that type of program.
