This weekend, my iTunes decided it didn't want to play nice.
I was exporting a playlist from MM to iTunes. MM couldn't export and came back with a message of "possible disk error". Tried two more times to no avail.
I opened iTunes, as I thought I may need to upgrade, however, iTunes essentially locked up. I couldn't click on any playlist, couldn't even get into the music store. Went to task manager to see if there was a 'not responding' message - nope, said running.
SOoo, I went to the iTunes website to try and download the new version and it came back telling me Thank You - however, nothing downloaded.
That's when I got peed, shut down the whole laptop.
This is a brand new laptop, successfully transferred everything from the old PC. All my music has been residing on a huge external drive. The last time I exported a playlist from MM to iTunes was Thursday night.
Any suggestions? Bob ?

Mac or PC? If PC I'd do a system restore and go back a few days.. then run MM. Your new playlist should still be intact if you saved it before you tried to export. Then upgrade your iTunes. If not a PC, Bob is up!

Sorry, NJ, it's a PC.
I'll do a system restore when I get home tonight and see what happens.
Thanks!:D

I swear that Itunes crashes more than Windows 95 did. I would back up my files and just reinstall the program. I don't burn CD's from Itunes but the thing that gets me is that on the last "upgrade" that Itunes installed all of a sudden I have a nice new little icon on my desk for Safari. What the? Now since they put out a constant update every two weeks I now have this added window warning that says that Safari has not been updated and may not work right if I don't:confused:. Looks like its to the utilities for me and try and weed out that program. If Microsoft had done that it would have been front page news.

NJ is my new hero! It worked I did a system restore, downloaded the new iTunes and exported my playlist from MM.
Meg, I get the install Safari message just don't download, who knows what would crash next.
I don't burn CDs from iTunes, if I do burn then it's straight from MM which has been OK so far - hope I've not jinxed it.:o

MegMeg,
Trash your PC and get a Mac, then you won't have the crashing problem. I think Bill Gates specifically ordered the Windows OS to bomb out on iTunes every other time you boot up. Bill is jealous that Steve Jobs thought of the iPod...:D

Euro - I had the same problem today! I have a Dell at work and a Mac at home... iTunes gave me the same error on both. It started burning one song, got to song 2 and then gave me the disc error... wasted 2 CDs. I'll have to try the system restore trick.

go back to itunes 7.5. your MM will still work, and you will still be able to use MyFairTunes as well to remove all that dreaded DRM. I won't update until I have too. I buy little or nothing from Itunes anymore. I hate DRM.

I downloaded version 7 and it held. I've tried not to update as MM and iTunes were working just fine - guess I was a version of two off. I've not bought from iTunes for ages. I do the AC thing when I want something see if it's on GoMusic first - apart from our Beatport stuff.
Hopefully, it won't turn on me again this weekend, or the PC will be history!

Leaving aside the battle that corporations do to get your dollar
I have had to reboot my ipod more times than my PC which I can't remember the last time I had to reboot that. I can not use mac it does not support all the things I use a computer for (namely software apps) Seriously though I don't have problems with any other software/firmware that I use on my PC. I use it for CAD, Music, Photo, Internet, movies, typing you guys and doing clerical work for the home. I really just don't like the I-plode and its becoming very high maintenance. here is the chain that you have to do to make a mix from Itunes to MM and get back to IPLODE
Get music burn and then rip music using some other program to make a workable file that can be read into MM manipulate and create with MM mix transfer to a burnable mix than transfer again to a ACC format and upload to Iplode. its really a busy little shit. But then I do it because I teach CE on using digital in your class and since the main stream is Iplodes I do it. I guess I am a conscientious objector. :D

I've had problem trying to burn from i=tunes. A message kept popping up "disc recording not found" everytimes I hit 'burn disc'. What I found, after lots of back and forth finally worked: I restored computer first but was not necessary, then I downloaded i-tunes from their website and it started working. I think there was some component missing that wasn't connecting originally. Don't know if I pressed upgrade or not. I was just frustrated after trying so many things I just pressed i-tunes download. Worked great.
