Does anyone know if you have to be registered for the WSSC in order to shop at the boutique? I've got a couple of girls from my class coming with me. One of them recently went through the certification to become an instructor and is registered for the WSSC but her sister is coming along for the shopping and socializing. However, she is a Spinning junkie like the rest of us and she asked me if she would be able to purchase stuff at the boutique. My immediate response was yes, but now I can't remember if they check you for a wrist band before you enter.

Same here, Monica. I can't specifically remember anyone checking anything but my credit card. That boutique gets so nuts, I can't imagine she'd have a problem slipping in. Word of advice though -- if she wants anything specific, she should get it quick because they sell out of stuff fast.

I'm a sucker for cute spin tees but I just got the new catalog and there's nothing that caught my eye.

Since we won't get there until late Friday night (technically it will be Saturday. We should be checking into the IC around 1:00 am) it may already be picked over. The one thing in her favor is that she can get to it whenever she wants since he won't be in sessions like the rest of us. Her sister and I can even have her pick up stuff for us! I've never had my own personal shopper.

Have I mentioned that I can't wait?!

hmm... I'm going to say that someone checked my bracelet last time (proof of registration) but I can't say that they usually do that for sure.

I would think that if anyone wanted to spend their money in their boutique they wouldn't stop them because they're not registered for the conference. I mean, you could just be a curious hotel guest... ? right?

Send a PM to Robin... or give a call... to be sure...

this post was worthless, wasn't it!?

Not a thing to worry about. MDA will never turn away anyone willing to spend the all mighty dollar.

All the stuff in their catalog (clothes, accessories, water bottles, towels, doodads, etc). There's also respresentative from Polar, the Italian music guy and some others but I never paid close attention. They'll also have some leftovers from last year's catalog discounted.

The good thing is you can see if what you're buying is crap before you lay your money down, rather than risking a catalog/online order. You get a price break on the discontinued stuff and you save on the postage on current catalog stuff. Otherwise the stuff is just as expensive in person as they are online.

Personally, I don't like their biking stuff. I've found that it's cheaply made and doesn't last.

Yeah, their stuff looks nice, until you get up close and when you factor in the low quality, the price is outta whack.

Thats cool! I was thinking of purchasing the SPD pedals for my bike at home, will they sell those there or should I just purchase those online? I always like the idea of shopping so will be sure to bring extra cash!

Can't say I've ever seen pedals for sale, but I haven't looked either. I think I'd order them on-line.

Another pointer for first timers -- bring trash bags or something to pack your disgusting stuff for the trip home.

Thanks for the info, guys. It's always nice to see the ladies salavating over the prospect of shopping. If you really like shopping don't forget that South Beach is just around the corner! That's where one of the ladies coming with me plans to spend the majority of her time. It's her sole purpose for coming.

Great advice, I know the baggage guy wasn't too happy when he loaded my bag on the plane on the way home my first year at a WSSC.

Do they have a laundry room there. Maybe I can bring 8 pair of cycling shorts/jerseys instead of 16.

Am I insane to think I might want to do some laundry or actually have the time to do it?

My favorite shop: Body Up

Every year I buy an exercise top from there. It's pricey but the stuff I bought 5 years ago is like new.

And that's in South Beach? I didn't make it to South Beach last time and I wonder if there will be time to do it this go around. I suppose Sunday late afternoon/early evening would work. Do you know if the shops are open late on Sundays?

You read my mind. Scary! (Don't tell anyone else what's in there--well, OK you can, since it mostly empty!) ;)

Yes, on the mall. I don't know for sure but I imagine SoBe is open every night.
