Plyometrics training and cycling.....Is there any studies in which the use of high impact training such as jumping helped in a low impact activity such as cycling?

you are a great coach Raff! :D But seriously we have talked a length about weight lifting and cycling as not a good mix to boost power but plyometric WO's are supposed to build explosive muscle power which we know can be a great tool for sprinting, finishing the long hill and generating the power to get the momentum up for that faster and more comfortable cadence. Plus it will not take a lot of time away from your seat time.

Anecdotal evidence only....I took a 20 week pylometrics/HIIT class (Jan-May)and my core is ROCK solid, like I had only dreamed about before, not to mention obvious improvement in response time and balance. I have to think that translates to the bike somehow.

All kidding aside (sorry couldn't resist before), I think this is a great topic. Curious to see what the experts say.

I've heard of improvements for runners, speed skaters, and in vertical leap, but have not been able to find any support for cycling. I'm sure it's there, I'm just not searching the proper datbases.

I looked at some info off Bicycling Mag's site from a Chris Carmichael article but its not extensive in nature -just says "its good" and then gives a work out.
