:grin:I am finally getting around to joining the forum and introducing myself. I was recently re-certified with Schwinn, I was originally cert. by Mad Dogg 10 years ago. I took a few years off and have since become a full time mom (now part time spin instructor) to my son -T.C. age 5 and daughter- Leah age 3! (YEAH!) I used to live in Philly and was "lucky" to be riding distance to Fairmont Park where my husband and I loved to mountain bike. We moved to MD and bought our first "official" road bikes a few years back and we are hooked.( he is a bit obsessed- but in a good way- he is a kick butt climber!) Spinning has had such a fantastic impact on my life and I love it! I share the constant search and thrill of music, thanks to my i-pod I can listen to my music! I am also "lucky" to know Abby, she was an inspiration for me to get re-certified- thank you Abby! You are such an informative bunch and I look forward to hopefully sharing as well. Thanks!

Hmmmm, I haven't had one in months. Maybe this week...
Abby, was Rita's Water Ice in business back when you were here? That's our summer obsession. My gf from NY laughs when I mention it, saying that "Water Ice" is a bit redundant. LOL, until she called my attention to that, it never crossed my mind as odd. It's always been water ice!

I don't remember Rita's back then, but there was always a "Water ice" truck that came down the street. Soft pretzels and Water Ice. Chocolate Cherry was my favorite and then cherry vanilla. Gosh, those were the days.:) Or, do you remember Levit's hot dogs? My dad used to take us there on the weekend get a hot dog (he would have them put a fishcake on his:o) and play in the park. "Summer Time" in Philly, nothin' like it. Goin' down the shore and just havin' fun!

Oh, I've had the redundancy brought to my attention too, but it will always be WATER ICE to me.

The soft pretzel always gets overlooked- that is my Philly food favorite- and I gross people out, but I love it with ketchup:D. Thanks for the warm welcome Abby and Pink!

Oh, geez, I forgot about Levit's. Don't remember ever going there but I know the name. I was probably the only kid growing up in the 60's that wouldn't touch a hot dog. Rita's is probably about 20 years old. Started as a family business out of Bensalem. They usher in the start of warm weather by giving out free water ice the first day of spring. It's a tradition to stand in lines, a city block long, to get your free water ice, wasting an hour but saving a buck. Silly, but fun, as you reconnect with people who have been holed away all winter.

OK, now that's a first! Can't say I'm anxious to try it. My family puts salt on watermelon. I never realized it was unusual until I was about 20. I now think it's gross. Well, yesterday I had a big BBQ here -- family & friends. I served watermelon and my family grabs the salt shaker. Friends were fascinated and started sprinkling salt on their watermelon. Tonight Mr. P had watermelon and put salt on it, says he really likes it. OH NO, the craziness spreads!

You are such a great group! I certified in Owings Mill, MD with Christine D'Ercole(sp?) from NY. She was fantastic, very inspiring. It was certainly different from 10 years ago, alot more emphasis on safety and creating a fluid ride.
