I know some of you here are avid iPod fanatics...has this ever happened to you? I got caught in a HUGE rainstorm on Saturday during my long run (it didn't look like rain when I left home, but a nasty storm moved in...the theme of my summer). I did my best to keep my iPod classic covered but there was no avoiding getting it a little wet and there wasn't any place to go to get out of the rain.
It was acting pretty funny so I looked up some ideas on-line to make sure it was dry. I placed it on top of the TV as suggested to dry it. It looks like everything is working just fine until I unplug it from the charger and then the battery is low and it never fully charges.
Am I screwed? Can this kind of thing be fixed for less $$$ than it costs to buy a new one?
It has been a bad summer for me with water....my biggest race of the season was ruined by rain, my cell phone got wet when my water bottle leaked in my gym bag and it's done, now this! UGH!:o
Thanks for any input!

Traci,
You can buy a replacement battery that comes with tools and instructions on how to replace it. Give me a moment and I'll do a search for the site that I've bought from....

Not sure if this works with ipods, but my son's cell phone took an inadvertent quick dunk in the sink a few weeks ago and he was told to put it in a zip bag full of rice to dry it out. Almost worked, and at least it was dry enough that the verizon folks were able to get the contact info, etc out of it.
Good luck!

Thanks, Bob and Lah! I will check into the battery replacement...I'm hoping that is all it is. With my recent bad luck with the cell phone, I did try the rice trick (and it was mentioned on some of the ipod help sites as well), but there was corrosion in the charger port of the phone that must have developed before it got dried out...hoping it's not something similar with the ipod! Thanks again for the link and email, Bob!:)

Traci,
I have read that rebooting your iPod can help in a lot of situations. Have your tried that? Here's a link if you don't know how.

AC turned me on to podswap.com. Those guys are the greatest. They'll fix what you have, or you can swap it for something different. Many of my old generation pods have found new adoptive parents there.
