This happens quite often and I asked about it before. There seems to be nothing to do about it, it just the way things go.
I am logged into this forum, and whether I click a link that takes me to another post and try and come back or I have 'timed out' and need to log back in, all the rest of my new posts that I have not read yet always get marked as having been read and there is no way to find out what I missed.

I thought someone said I could search for the posts for the last couple of days and I tried that but can not get past needing to enter a word or a user to search. Is there any way to search for posts (all posts) without having to specify a word or user?

Blackdog,
If you click on the "Quick Links" drop down and select "Today's Posts" that will bring up all of the posts from the past coupla days.

Actually, the software doesn't really manage what you've read/or not read from a personal level. it manages whether or not a post is "new" based on the timestamp between your login sessions. If you check in daily, doing what like2bike suggests is a great way to catchup on all of the current days activity.

Thanks, I already have resorted to Quick Links Todays posts. That of course does not cover several days worth. I thought I read someone saying you could search for missing time span and could not figure out how to do this with the Search functions.

It is interesting to know that posts are not marked at a local level, just according to login times. I have no idea why clicking on a link to another post many times brings me to a login page. That seems to happen often, and then coming back I lose my posts. I guess logging in again triggers it. However, why does clicking on a link to a previous post cause the login to appear. I am already logged in and currently using the forum at that time?

I defer to my technical wizard friend, Yvonne. Y this one's over my head. Can you help? I'm not sure I understand the problem that Blackdog is having...
