Ok. I've beening doing weight watchers for a year. I'm beened almost at goal for the last month. It is driving me crazy. It is the last 5 pounds. I get to 2 pounds to go and then jump up the next week back to 5 to go.. I think I have done everything.... I know the quest is good and it is keeping me focused, but come on....
Anyone have any ideals that might help....

weight training, intervals, decrease calories.....

These usually jump you out of a plateau. Hang in there.....

Stick with it Alice, I know you can do it. I've been a life member of weight watchers for almost 25 years now. It took me almost three months to lose that last 5 pounds and reach goal, the first time, so I know what you're going through.

Another WW-lifer here -- 10 years. I agree with Bob & Shannon, stick it out, and understand that those last few can be tougher than all the rest. However, there may be a point that you need to reassess your goal. It's just a number and if it will always be a thorn in your side, it may need to be revisited. Now may not be the time for that, but keep it in mind. You've a long life ahead of you, it may take you some time to settle into a realistic goal weight.

I was skinny most of my life, started gaining weight through my 30's and lost it in my early 40's. So, technically, I was overweight for about 12 years out of 53, but I still think of myself as "fat" -- even when I was 114 lbs. Don't let this take over your life.

For me, always half-heartedly trying to lose those last 5, keeps me from gaining the next 10. Celebrate (not with food :)) your amazing accomplishment. There's a fine line between staying vigilant and living your life.

On the practical side, I've found that other than cleaning up my diet (for me, that's getting a handle on sweets), aggressive weight lifting makes the difference.

Alice first of all congratulations on your success. I agree with Shannon, Bob and Susan: stick with it and try not to focus so much on that last (small) bit of weight but on the bigger picture. Could be that your body has reached its goal on its own and that you are going to stay right where you are. You must feel so GOOD about your accomplishment! Way to go!

Thanks... I'm going to give some more time before I think about changing my goal weight.

Weight training will be a help for sure, I fell in love with kettle bells over the summer and have lost 25 pounds since. Hang in there, change it up a little, lift weights, throw in some intervals and be patient with yourself and those 5 will be gone in no time! Also, is it possible that you may not be eating enough? That can cause plateaus too. Congrats on all you've accomplished!!

I recently started with a trainer at my gym. I have worked out diligently for 20+ years but never with a trainer. I have to say this guy is flat out kicking my butt! He does a mini circut that you repeat 2 or 3 times before moving on to the next mini circut. Non-stop, legs, chest, tri's, bi's, shoulders, back. On to the next thing. My heart rate has only dropped < 65 % 2 or 3 times during the workout, and sometimes I'm working at my 80%. Don't know about the weight thing (thats always been secondary for me). But if your stuck in a rut something of this nature might be the solution.
