Thanks for posting Bob. It's always good to be armed with more knowledge, especially as we all age gracefully together.
It certainly makes sense, but I never put it together.
"Another study, published in the journal Bone in 2002, found that male road cyclists had lower bone mineral density than male mountain bikers after adjusting for body weight and controlling for age. The difference there could be that mountain biking, with its bumps and jumps, perhaps provides more impact and stimulation for bone growth than does road cycling."
So...jumps are actually good for you? And bouncing up and down in the saddle doing them is beneficial?

Guys, I sub 30 min min-spins a lot, could be new riders or women who aren't there or want to be there for a 45 or 55 min ride, while I teach off the bike part of the class and it WORKS. However, I always say "Ladies, I am the one who gets off the bike. Do not freak out! It is my job to make sure when you leave the room you are a better rider than when you walked in, and I love my gym jobs" I reposition, pick chins up to keep air way open, pat hands etc. That seems to work, and I may be the only guy and oldest person in the club, but the grrrls are cool with me.
