This was the beginning of my relationship with the Real Ryder Corporation. One of the of the two original founder’ s Sean called me a few days later Sean contacted me to ask for my help by checking  out their new indoor cycle and “SEE†if I could could uncover any flaws in their new product, the Real Ryder. I must say I was a little hesitant, because I didn’t believe the present indoor cycles needed much changing. After many years of working with indoor bikes I felt I was pretty well versed on all aspects of the stationary bike and how could you make it any better? Boy was I wrong……
Upon arriving at LAX I was met by Sean in his one of a kind Westminster edition Land Rover produced for the British monarchy. Sean was great to talk to and I felt an immediate connection as we drove to Colin’s house, (Colin was the inventor of the idea and met Sean at a Jacuzzi in a local YMCA and shared with Sean that “He had an Idea†It was then that the stationary bike began to move..) Well we arrived a Colin’s house and once I met him again I felt a great connection. These guys were awesome people with solid lives and and a desire to learn from my many years of experience. Colin was so proud and was smiling from ear to ear as we walked into his back room of his house and their sat the Real Ryder bike. I gazed over at it and immediately my mechanical mind began to click. As I jumped on the bike I found some quick flaws and we took the bike apart on the spot to replace some bearings in the rear wheel that had arrived broken because of a shaft that did not have bearing stays. (all later model production bikes have these). After we fixed the wheel bearings I got a chance to ride Collins toy and fell in Love with “moving” in 1 spot. The bike was awesome because it was just downright cool with movement and balance, turns and banks I hadn’t had so much fun in one spot in quite some time. After I got a chance to ride the bike I started the process of seeing what I could to help them make sure the design of the components was right. I helped redesign several parts including the best bottom bracket money can buy the ISIS bottom bracket, different pull pins, a small cue factor, a narrower rear shaft holds, handle bar stays (so bars would not go all the way down on fingers) The new model has all these features built in and I gotta say this bike is tops.

Had to share…Tried the inner cycle, and REALLY enjoyed it. You would think it’s just like regular indoor cycling , but it engages muscle groups that usually get ignored with “regular” spinning. Primarily the upper body, and the core, which you need to use in order to maintain stability on the inner cycle. You really need to use yo…ur arms in order to turn the bike in a right and left direction, as the bike tilts with you during the workout. It almost felt like an entirely different work out. MUCH more challenging than the regular rides I am accustomed to. I was truly exhausted. A Pleasure to change -up my workout routine with something new. Billy’s enthusiasm about this new workout can not be fully realized until you try it yourself.I usually gauge(not a scientific measure….) by the sweat pool at the bottom of the bike at the end of the workout. I assure you this pleased my “sweat pool” mission to no end!!!! Loved the challenge, and look forward to doing it again. Thanks Billy G!!!

Thank you for my first experience on the RealRyder…QUITE different from a regular spin bike…it take a lot of core strength to stabilize it. Definitely will ride it again!!! Have a GREAT day
